Where it all began
I recently graduated from the Jewellery Essential Certificate program at Haliburton School of The Arts. I highly recommend to everyone, take some time off and go to this amazing school. The programs are so inspiring, and you get your hands dirty from the get-go! You are also taught very practical marketing skills so you can make your new hobby a career.

Artist Bio
Nicole Boss-Moodie was born in Guelph Ontario into a creative environment. Carpenters, visual artists, and poets are all in her immediate family, and created a very passionate and alternative upbringing. Nicole moved many times throughout her childhood. One of the places she lived was Stratford Ontario, a town most notable for its Shakespearean Festival. Because of the creative influence in Stratford, the high school in which she attended had a very rich arts program.
Wanting to learn documentary film making, she was very attracted to the communications and media arts class and decided to enroll in it all four years of high school. Shortly after, Nicole experienced a great transformation. Having been raised in a very open agnostic home Nicole had a thirst for understanding the power of the spirit and she discovered the Baha'i Faith. This without a doubt completely changed her perspective on the world; it gave her a new purpose. She learned that mankind was a mine rich in gems of inestimable value. With an unquenchable thirst to discover her purpose in this world and how she could best serve it, she passionately became involved in the activities of the Baha'i Faith.
Nicole started to understand the responsibility each person has to create a better and more beautiful world. and that the arts plays such a pivotal role in community building and the empowerment of the human spirit. This inspired new learning sparked a desire to master a craft or trade, not only for her own self-expression but also to inspire others. she hoped to assist others so they too could learn to empower themselves and their communities with the ability to create beauty.
She attended Haliburton school of the arts, in Haliburton Ontario, receiving her certificate in the Jewellery Program. It was her she had finally found her creative outlet. She hopes to continue in the field, setting up her own studio, and teaching others the art of metal-smithing and jewellery making.

Artist Statement
Being able to see the virtues of others manifested into reality fascinates me. I have found that jewellery like other art media can be a reflection into the soul of the artist. With tiny earrings one can see the traces of patience, dedication and a striving for perfection. In large inventive pendants are the signs of courage, creativity, determination, and commitment. My work is made from copper, sterling silver, bronze and brass. I am most intrigued by the characteristics of copper. It has the potential to take on different colours and textures ranging from smooth and polished to irregular surfaces with rich earthy tones. Much of my jewellery has a reverent theme, silhouettes of people praying or ripples in a pond have been used in my pendants. The imagery of nature I incorporate in representational. Leaves, scenes of insects or birds nests, and rain drops are some of the designs used in my rings. I tend to design my rings with a degree of flexibility, allowing me to explore and learn from the process. Because of this method I have been able to produce multi-metal, asymmetrical pieces as well. Seeing the traces of the passion, craftsmanship and sincerity put into art is what makes them beautiful and attracts us. This is what I try to explore in my craft.
